The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn supports development and implementation of government job creation program in the village.

In the interview V.Lytvyn suggested that "the key to the revival of the Ukrainian village is massive restructurization of agricultural, manufacturing, service, cooperative and serving types of production in Ukraine, instead of social programs made up by deputy candidates on the wave of pre-election populism". "None budget would be able to survive such social programs, until each community has at least one either renovated or newly built enterprise," he added.

At the same time, V.Lytvyn stressed that such program "needs to be of subject character rather than of general one". It should include specific measures to provide support and development of all the territories in general.

He believes that only government job creation program can save the Ukrainian village from extinction and drastically change the life style of agrarian population.

Having analyzed successful experience of small and medium-sized enterprises in Novohrad Volynsk, Zhytomyr region, V.Lytvyn suggested elaborating national program for complex development of production in the village, taking into account local conditions and resources under the framework of state policy for the support of small and medium-sized enterprises.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine believes that such a program will not only essentially improve the situation connected with the employment in the village, but will also change social, economic and cultural image of the Ukrainian village.

Information: According to the International Labour Organization the unemployment level among the village youth in Ukraine exceeds 30 per cent. During the years of Independence rural population of Ukraine has reduced by 2,5 millions of people; 16-20 unpeopled villages disappear from the map of Ukraine each year.
